Ricardo Pantoja was 20-year-olds when a vehicle occupied by multiple, unknown suspects approached him as he sat in a vehicle in the 200 block of Henry Street 3 days after Christmas in 1988. An occupant from the suspect vehicle opened fire with a handgun, striking Ricardo in the head. He died a week later at Sherman Hospital on January 4, 1989. His murder was the final cold case homicide of the 1980’s in Elgin.
