Brandon Beamon, a 17-year-old high school student, was outside of his residence in the 400 block of Ann Street in the evening hours of August 30, 1995 when he was shot but an unknown person(s) and transported to an area hospital where he died of his injuries. Brandon’s murder is one of two cold cases from 1995, a year in which Elgin saw 12 homicides, the most in the city’s history.
