Alfonso Munoz was a 23-year-old patron at Square One, a bar located in the 200 block of Ball Street, on February 16, 1981. A Hispanic male became involved in an argument with Alfonso outside the bar and then shot him. The suspect also attempted to shoot an acquaintance who was with Alfonso before fleeing the scene. The suspect was later identified as Hipolito Hernandez Marin and the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office issued an arrest warrant for him for murder. Hernandez Marin’s whereabouts are currently unknown but it is believed that he fled to Mexico in 1981. He is still being sought for Alfonso’s murder.
